Fair for You can help you spread the cost of a new fridge-freezer - whether your old one broke down, you've moved house, or it's time for an upgrade
We know it can be difficult to afford the up-front costs of a new appliance. And we know that living without a fridge-freezer isn't something you want to have to do for long.
With Fair for You you can get a loan specifically to buy the new appliance. Browse our range of fridges, freezers and fridge freezers. This loan comes with free UK delivery, and free removal of your old appliance - plus free installation in many cases.
What should I do if I think my fridge freezer is broken?
If you think your fridge freezer is broken, it’s good to try these things before you order a new one:
- Check it is plugged in properly. You could check that the plug socket still works (ie by testing a phone charger or something else on it).
- Unplug the fridge for about 5–10 minutes, then try restarting it.
- Check that the temperature dial hasn’t been changed accidentally
- Check that you haven’t accidentally left it open overnight or for a long period – even leaving it slightly open could cause it to warm up quickly
If you’ve got food in there which you don’t want to lose, try to avoid opening and closing it too much, because this lets the cool air escape. The food in the fridge will stay cool for a few hours. If the freezer is full, it might stay cold for up to two days.
Once you are certain you need a new appliance (bad luck!), then measure your old one and the space it sits in, to make sure you get a replacement the right size.
You should also find a serial or model number on a sticker inside the fridge freezer. You might find that the same model is still available – or that giving this information to a retailer will help them find the right replacement.
Can I get a fridge freezer on finance with bad credit?
We carry out credit checks as part of every application. But we look at more than just your credit history.
We focus on how you're repaying things at the time of your application, alongside your credit history. Because of this, we may be able to consider lending to people with bad credit scores.
We can't guarantee your application will be approved - but a bad credit score alone won't necessarily rule you out.

- If your fridge freezer has just broken down and you need a replacement quickly, buying direct from Fair for You means you get free delivery and your old appliance removed - all in one.
- If you're replacing a larger or more expensive model, buying direct from Fair for You gives you flexibility on the amount you can borrow. You could also pay off one third of your loan and then apply again.
- As an ethical lender, we want what is best for customers, and recommend you search around and look for a good deal. But remember that other lenders might give you different repayment flexibility, eligibility criteria and costs (including Annual Percentage Rate or APR), so you need to weigh up the pros and cons. Remember that unlike rent-to-own stores like Brighthouse, you own the appliance outright.
How much does it cost to spread the cost of a fridge freezer?
There's a fixed interest rate of 4.25% per month.
What this means is that if you take out a £350 loan, and pay off weekly, you’ll pay 20 payments of £19.36. This means you’ll pay £387.20 in total - the initial loan amount, plus £37.20 in interest.
Use our loan calculator to get an idea of what your repayments might look like before you apply.
With Fair for You loans, you have the flexibility to change your payment frequency or payment plan if you need, and you can make extra payments, with no penalty.
If you're dealing with debt or money worries more broadly, our Debt & Money Matters page has support and resources to help.
Fair for You loans are subject to eligibility and affordability checks. Missed payments may affect your credit file. Only borrow what you can afford to repay. Loan interest example is based on current APR, correct at time of publication.
