10 places kids eat for free or cheap this summer

August 1, 2022 • Chris Bardsley

As the summer sun begins to heat up, so do the prices of family outings. But just because the weather is getting warmer doesn’t mean you have to spend a fortune to have fun. Many supermarkets and restaurants are offering discounted kids' meals throughout the summer holidays. And in some places, kids eat free!

But if you prefer to stay home and cook with the family, Fair for You is here to help you save money there too. We’ve teamed up with Iceland to trial an ethical credit scheme called the Food Club Card – currently a pilot scheme available to new customers located in certain areas of England and Wales. With the Food Club Card, you can apply for a loan amount between £25 and £75 to use online and in-store at Iceland Food Warehouse Stores. As long as you keep up with weekly repayments and don’t exceed an outstanding balance of £100, you can apply to take out more credit up to six times per year. Stock up your freezer and cupboards, and make nights-in your go-to summer activity.

If you do fancy a trip out for free breakfast or lunch, here’s a list of all the places your children can eat for £1 or less this summer.

Kids can eat for £1 at any time of day in Asda cafes across England and Wales. Hot and cold meals are available, depending on what’s available in your local cafe. You can also get a free pouch of Ella’s baby food for your little ones too.
