But loan sharks can be hard to spot - they often put on a friendly smile at first when they offer you some cash, but the sharp teeth soon come out when they want it paid back - with unfair terms and sky-high rates. Here are six important questions to ask if you're not sure if a lender is legit:
Did they offer you a cash loan?
Did they not give you paperwork?
Did they add huge amounts of interest or APR to your loan?
Have they threatened you?
Are you scared of people finding out?
Have they taken your bank card, benefit card, passport, watch or other valuables from you?
